To put an end to this Ratzinger/Williamson business, it appears “Bishop” Williamson has issued his apology for denying the gassing of Jews during the Holocaust. Now, underneath it all, I couldn’t give a fat rats ass WHAT Williamson does or does not consider credible, but this thing just won’t go away. Here is his “apology” in full:

“The Holy Father and my Superior, Bishop Bernard Fellay, have requested that I reconsider the remarks I made on Swedish television four months ago, because their consequences have been so heavy.”
Not because you have read some history, and changed your mind? In other words, you regret solely the outcry, not having spewed ill informed bullshit?

“Observing these consequences I can truthfully say that I regret having made such remarks, and that if I had known beforehand the full harm and hurt to which they would give rise, especially to the Church, but also to survivors and relatives of victims of injustice under the Third Reich, I would not have made them.”
Did the Nazis gas Jews or NOT?

“On Swedish television I gave only the opinion (..."I believe"..."I believe"...) of a non-historian, an opinion formed 20 years ago on the basis of evidence then available and rarely expressed in public since.”
What “evidence?” What does the frequency of the repetition of a lie have to do with the lie itself? Weasel words. And its been expressed in public PLENTY of times, perhaps not by YOU, but by other ignorant fascist bastards LIKE you.

What does that simplistic piece of bullshit have to do with the fact that you are an ass? Or with the topic under discussion?

The man is not only ignorant; he is proud of his ignorance as well. In all of the above, he has apologized only for the effect his idiocy has had on “mankind”; there is not one reference to the accuracy of his views. In short, he still believes that the SS never gassed Jews, but that, at most, 300,000 Jews were killed during the period in question.

Now let me tell you what I believe.

I believe that every person has a right to an opinion. I further believe that intelligent people should make every effort to inform their opinions with historical fact. I know for a fact that during this fool’s training he was taught not only that Jews were responsible for the killing of Christ, but also that they were doomed to suffer for it forever. Prior to October 28, 1965 and the publication of “Nostra Aetate”(a Vatican II document which was intended to change the relationship between Catholics and other religions forever), Catholic children were taught that it was pretty much open season on Jews. I grew up in a heavily Catholic neighborhood in Brooklyn, and can attest to the fact that this doctrine of anti-Semitic hatred was enthusiastically embraced by many of the children and adults with whom I came into contact. Because I had a non-Jewish surname, I was privy to the unfiltered opinions of these folks, and it horrified me. One can extrapolate that the teachers of this doctrine were the Parrish priests and sisters who taught in the local Catholic schools, of which there were quite a few. If this doctrine was operative in Brooklyn, think of how much more potent it was among the ignorant peasants and Cossacks in Eastern Europe.

In most cases, Vatican II was a success. In the case of Williamson (and countless other Catholics educated by the Church in the years before the edict) it fell on deaf ears. They believed what they had been taught, and no edict was going to change their minds. Hence, his sad “apology.”

Believe what you will, you Nazi bastard. If we ever meet (an unlikely but interesting fantasy), we’ll have a little chat about the entire affair, just like the chats I had with several playmates in Brooklyn. After all, a broken and bloody nose is evidence we can all agree upon!

To be fair, the Vatican has not accepted this piece of garbage back into the Church based on the above nonsense. They have issued a statement to the effect that in order for that event to occur, Williamson must fully recant and distance himself from his statements concerning the Holocaust. In short, the above apology is not sufficient to their needs (due to the fact that it is not sufficient to the needs of a few powerful Jewish leaders and groups).

I think this will be my last rant on the subject, and it will be back to domestic politics for the foreseeable future. Unless, of course, Williamson has more to say on the subject.
