Charoseth |
||||
This Sephardic Charoseth will be an exotic addition to your Seder. The Dates and Bananas help to create something so tasty you may choose to make this in a double or triple batch. My son was forever begging for another Hillel Sandwich, minus the Horseradish of course. Ingredients 8 ounces chopped Dates 1/2-3/4 cup Sweet Red Wine or Orange Juice 1 cup finely chopped Pecans 1 banana, mashed 1 cup grated, peeled Apple 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom Method Place the Dates and 1/2 cup of the Wine in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over medium heat, until a paste forms. You may need to add a bit more Wine to moisten until the dates are dissolved. Remove from heat. Add the other ingredients and mix thoroughly. Chill for at least an hour. Stir, adding a bit more Wine if necessary, and serve. |
