Re article in GM. Shanghai was occupied by Japan 1937-1945. Jews did not need a visa for Shanghai because of the Japanese not the Chinese. This is not mentioned. Shanghai was one of the areas the Japs put the Jews so they could protect them from the Germans who were their allies. The other was the hills near KObe where they sent the Jews that werealready in Japan. Out of sight (of the Germans and out of mind. Japan refused to hand over the Jews. At this time in the article the entire western world had abandonned the Jews. Stan
