Re: For American Jews, Dissent Against Israel Has Become Mainstream Don't ever count me in as a Jewish-American dissenter against Israel. I would rather die at the hands of Osama Bin Laden or even Rosie O'Donnell, than utter a single word against the State of Israel. I cannot criticize a country whose very existence is threatened daily by hundreds of millions of fanatical enemies at its doorstep. Israel is a permanent refuge for my people and only THEY know what's best for their survival....not some Jewish writers or entertainers. Lloyd
Editor-> Lloyd; I am aware of many people who feel as you do, but be aware, free speech permits others to have differing opinions. Israel is a proud and strong democracy, and as such it permits differing opinions from its own citizens as well as the world at large. I too support Israel strongly, but that does not mean I must automatically agree with every action taken by the Israeli government. Honest criticism should never be considered equal to disloyalty.
