Editor-> Thank you so much for your comments regarding the article from This Magazine that was linked to in this week's Megillah newsletter. I am happy to learn of such a group as you mentioned. It makes me feel a bit less nervous about the Christian Zionist movement. But I still have a lot of apprehension about their ultimate goals, and although you have been fortunate in hearing from a group that presents a different point of view, I have not had such an occasion. I do not doubt the veracity of your experience at all. As I stated, it actually has lifted my spirits concerning this matter. Thank you again for commenting on the article.

I would not refer to the article about the Christian Zionists excellent commentary. It's extremely biased and factually inaccurate. When referring to Falwell's group, they are probably right. However, there are other Christian groups who do not take the same armageddonist point of view. They do have a Biblical belief that Israel was given to the Jews by G-d, but they also beleive that Israel is the breath of freedom in the middle east and deserve to be supported. A representative of such a group spoke at a Federation event in Birmingham and many very bright people who were ready to "take them on" were very pleasantly surprised and had their minds opened. If the author of the article had done proper research, they would have come to find there are other Christian groups who are our allies and do not take the extreme view of Falwell's group and others like them. But, their statement about Israel's occupation of Palestinian land is factually inaccurate and dangerously misleading to those who do not know better. The author's bias shown through in that statement. The U.N. has never passed a resolution granting the West Bank to the Palestinians. It is referred to as contested land (and has been since 1967), which means Israel has as much of a claim as the Palestinians. The Israelis only "occupy" that land when they are attacked. Would any other nation do anything less?
