     Shuls on 169th Street
Reference was made to 169th St and the Grand Concourse, which at one time was looked upon an area of wealthy Yidn. I was born almost 88 years ago on 169th St, but further east,, between what was once the 3rd Ave El and the below street level railroad on Park Ave. I wish I could remember the shul on 169th St, going uphill, east, from 3rd Ave towards Fulton Ave. I started elementary school at PS 2. The story of the shuls on 169th street brought back memories of my childhood. I've been away from the Big Apple for almost 59 years, living in north central Pennsylvania. Paul Bader
Editor-> Dear Paul, I am delighted to know this excellent story brought such pleasant memories to mind for you. Although, I did not live in that area at the time, I do know the Grand Concourse very well, and much of the Yiddishkayt that used to surround the area of 169th and above. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
