Here is a nice Jewish boy, born into a good family, achieved high academic rewards, attended the finest of universities, became a top prosecutor in Manhattan, was elected as state attorney general, and ultimately became governor of the state. He then screws it all up by thinking with the wrong head. I have heard it said that the trouble with men is that their brains are located in their putz (penis.) Until now I always thought that was simply a low class joke, but Mr. Spitzer has bestowed new life to that time worn remark.

There is much head scratching associated with this matter. Mr. Spitzer prosecuted several prostitution rings in New York, including a major case on Long Island, when he was New York's chief prosecutor. He gained the reputation for being squeaky clean, and he acquired many enemies on Wall St. when he went after CEOs and financial officers of some of the biggest brokerage houses. He was elected governor primarily due to his reputation for being Mr. Clean.

As as a Jew, I can only shake my head and sigh. Jewish men are alleged to make the best husbands, or so the legend goes. I doubt if Mrs. Spitzer would currently agree with that myth. Sadly, this is another example of how human beings are just human beings, regardless of religious, or ethnic background.

We are responsible for our own behaviour, as is Mr. Spitzer.

Someone said to me last night, "What a shandeh, what will the goyim think?" I answered by saying, "Names like Kennedy, Gingrich, Craig, DeLay, and so many other well known individuals who engaged in shameful activities precludes anyone from pointing fingers at us Jews." But I can easily understand why we, as a community, might feel let down by one of our own.
