The American Society for Jewish Heritage in Poland presents a special free screening of "Diamonds in the Snow" a film directed by Mira Binford.
This gala event will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2006 6:00 P.M. at the Greenwald Hall of Temple Emanu-El 1 East 65th Street, New York City
Thousands of Jewish children lived in Bedzin, Poland before the Nazi invasion. Only about a dozen survived. This international prize-winning film shows the stories of three very young children, including the filmmaker, who were saved from the Nazis by Polish strangers. The survivors’ perspectives, interwoven with rare archival images, create a deeply moving, authentic portrayal of the complexities of history and human nature.
Following the film there will be a Benefit Buffet Dinner. The contribution is $150.00 per person of which $125.00 is tax deductible. Funds raised from this event will help finance the Fifth Annual Ringelblum Fellowship, awarded for research at the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw.
