In Memory of Gene T. Boyer

Gene T. Boyer, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at her home in Madison, Wisconsin. She was born on July 11, 1925, the daughter of Nat and Rene (Hiller) Cohen. As a member of the Status of Women Commission in Washington, D.C., for a national conference, she took part in the founding of NOW. She was NOW's first treasurer, a finance vice president and later president of the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund. Gene started the National Conference Committee, and founded the Jewish Women's Coalition and the Wisconsin Women's Network. Gene and her husband, Burt, owned and operated a furniture business in Beaver Dam for 32 years. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Burt; her daughter, Bari; grandchildren, Brit and Brook; and a brother, Robert Cohen.

Gene's papers will be safely kept in the Wisconsin Historical Society.
