Spiritual Aging

Kay Ross, a member of our Megillah Family is embarking on a series of seminars, which I am happy to bring to your attention. What better way of describing this project than in Kay's own words:

Dearest Friends and Family:

I am finally harvesting the fruits of my intensive two years of training with the Spiritual Eldering Institute, founded by Rabbi Zalman-Schachter Shalomi. I am proud to announce these classes. I had the honor of being with Reb Zalman recently at a conference in Loveland, CO, and I was further inspired to continue with his work.

If any of you are in this geographical area, and wish to attend my classes I would be honored to have you share this work that I am so enthusiastic about. If you know of anyone who could benefit from these classes I would be appreciative of any referrals.

Of course, I am not limited to teaching these classes in the Inland Empire only. I would love to present to groups all over Southern California. The three classes described herein, are only the "tip of the iceberg" as far as the vast curriculum available for presentation.

Here is a quote about "From Age-ing to Sage-ing" by Bernie Siegel, Author of "Love, Medicine and Miracles:"
"A wise and inspiring guidebook to the aging process. It will show you how healthy aging may be more like the process of birth than only a reminder of our mortality."

A quote by: Elie Wiesel, winner of the 1986 Nobel Peace Prize.
"As in his teaching, Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi put in this volume warmth, human compassion, and necessary wisdom."

From Rabbi Harold Kushner, author of "When Bad Things Happen to Good People"
"Medical science has added years to our lives. Reb Zalman's warm and wise book arrives just in time to add life to those years."

I look forward to your comments and to seeing some of you in my future classes.

With warmest greetings of Shalom,
Kay (Ross)

“THE JOY OF AGING…A NEW VISION OF GROWING OLDER”
Saturday, 2/19/05 – 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. ($20) Reservation Required (info below)
Elderhood offers us the wonderful opportunity to complete our lives triumphantly, but how many of us accept the offer? Most people want to arrest their youth at one point – say forty-two, in the prime of life. Much of this attitude comes from the media hype and our cultural expectations, which project negative images of aging. In this workshop you will look at some of these negative images, and then together we will explore ways to create a more joyous vision of growing older. We will change the aging paradigm and find joy in doing it. Materials will be provided and refreshments will be served.
