I can hardly imagine a seyder without a Fruit Compote,
or the jokes about it. Unfortunately, it is often an ordeal endured in the name
of "good digestion." Try this version from Spain to brighten the prospect of
fulfilling tradition.
Ingredients
2 Pounds Dried Mixed Fruit
2 cups Dry Red Wine
2 cups Water
½ cup Sugar
Juice and Peel from 1 Orange
1 tablespoon Vanilla
6 Cinnamon sticks
1 tablespoon Whole Cloves
Method
Put all the ingredients in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over a medium heat.
Allow to boil for one minute. Remove from heat, cover, and allow the mixture to
stay in the pan until cool. Serve
