A grateful teenage who recovered from stomach cancer has repaid the hospital which treated him with a £6,000 donation.

Ethan Marks, who celebrated his bar mitzvah last week, persuaded his head of year at Immanuel College, Ben Chadwick, to perform a sponsored parachute jump.

The money will be used to buy life-saving equipment for a cancer unit at St Bart’s Hospital.

The schoolboy, from Cockfosters, said: “I felt really proud of my teacher to do this for me. I am so pleased that so many people have reached into the kindness of their hearts and donated so much money to help prevent other children suffering from cancer.”

Ethan developed stomach cancer when he was three-years-old after contracting from salmonella, and after extensive surgery relapsed four years later. He has now been given the all-clear.

A cheque was presented to Ethan’s consultant Dr Nick Plowman, where he celebrated his bar mitzvah with a breakfast party.
